as the scene was inspired by an early version of the article.

implications of such technology.
“Thoughts
on AI by Bridget Mapes,”
is a brief commentary on AI.
“Thoughts
on AI by Prof. Robert Runté,”
is another brief commentary on AI. Robert is Senior Editor with
EssentialEdits.ca. A former professor, he has won four Aurora Awards for his
literary criticism and currently reviews for the Ottawa Review of Books. His
own fiction has been published over 130 times, and several of his short stories
have been reprinted in "best of" collections, most recently, Best
of Metastellar 5. Robert lives in Lethbridge,
Alberta, with his wife, two daughters, and three dogs. Robert’s story “Ransom
and the Open Window,” was published in issue 35 of Neo-opsis, and his story “Ransom in the Woods,” which takes
place in the same world as “Ransom and the Open Window,” is in issue 36. https://runte.blogspot.com
“Thoughts
on AI by David Gerrold,”
is a couple of pages about AI.
Screenwriter
and novelist David Gerrold is best known for writing the original Star
Trek episode "The Trouble With
Tribbles," also known as “the most popular episode of the most popular
television series.” His writing career has been extensive, and rather than
trying to list come up with a highlight reel here, I suggest checking out:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Gerrold
David
has recently been adding quite a few thought-provoking posts about AI to his FaceBook page, continuing to show that as a writer, he is
still in his prime. I’ve read quite a
few of his posts about AI, and have participated in
some of the... shall we say “spirited” discussions his ideas inspired. We
purchased the rights to include two sections of his thoughts in this issue. We
are pleased an honoured to include them in this issue of Neo-opsis. I recommend checking out David’s FaceBook page (after finishing this issue of Neo-opsis, of course), to see more of his thoughts on AI
and numerous other topics.

This issue includes reviews of the web-based computer game Cubes
2048, and two reviews of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
Awards news includes a listing for the 2025 Aurora Awards, Sunburst
Awards, Hugo Awards, and Nebula Awards.
Additional news is about science fiction and
science.
The article “Doctor Who and
Superpowers” is a commentary on a mistaken claim that is making the
rounds on the internet, that “The Doctor has no superpowers.”
The Last Two Pages is “Thoughts on Stories and Creativity,”
by Stephanie Ann Johanson.

A science fiction/fantasy novel by
six-time Aurora Award winning writer/editor Karl Johanson. A game designer dies
and finds himself in the afterlife. He's not sure if it's Hell, Heaven,
Valhalla, or wherever. One thing is for sure though, things in the afterlife
become much more interesting as advanced game designers die and show up there. http://www.neo-opsis.ca/BuyGameDesignerDigital.htm
