November 21, 2006 – Stephanie Johanson’s painting Coastal Cave won Best in Show the Acrylics Art 2006 Summer and Fall Exhibition 

 

November 21, 2006 Issue 10 of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine has gone out in the mail to contributors, subscribers, and Magazines Canada.

November 17, 2006Bundoran Press is having a book launch for The Best of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine anthology in Prince George, BC, Thursday, November 23rd, 2006 7:00 – 9:00 pm Artspace, above Books & Co. There will be readings and door prizes.

 

November 4, 2006 – Neo-opsis reviewer John W. Herbert has some photos from Vcon 31 up on his blog site Confessions of a Pop-Cult Junkie.

 

October 13, 2006 – The Best of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine Anthology launch at Vcon 31 was a big success. The event featured Virginia O’Dine, from Bundoran Press, reading from Frank Gunderloy’s story The Silver Connection, Nina Munteanu reading from her story Virtually Yours, and Karl Johanson reading his editorial from Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine issue 8.

 

NeoAnthoCoverSmOctober 3, 2006 Bundoran Press announces “The Best of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine” Anthology, and its launch on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Vcon 31 (A Vancouver Science Fiction Convention). Neo-opsis magazine editor Karl Johanson and author Nina Munteanu will be attending the launch.

 

October 2, 2006Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine editor Karl Johanson, and art director / assistant editor Stephanie Johanson, will be attending and speaking on several panels at Vcon 31. Stephanie Johanson will have artwork in the Vcon art show, and Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine will have a table in the dealers’ room. Subscriptions and back issues will be available for purchase at the Neo-opsis dealers’ table for cash or cheque. Credit card purchases must be done through the Neo-opsis online store.

 

August 20, 2006Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine will be available at the Edge Publishing dealer’s table at the 64th World Science Fiction Convention in Los Angeles, California, August 23 to 27th, 2006. Editor Karl Johanson and art director Stephanie Johanson will be attending the convention. They are not scheduled to speak on panels, but feel free to corner them and say hello.

 

July 28, 2006 – Neo-opsis Editor, Karl Johanson, will be speaking at ConVersion 22 in Calgary, August 11 – 13, 2006. He will be participating on the following panel discussions: Limits to Growth - with Dave Duncan, Simon Rose and Blair Peterson; Recommended Reading List - with Blair Peterson; Is Space Opera Out of Tune - with Larry Niven and Blair Peterson; SF Crack: Hooking Others - with Blair Peterson; Starship Drives on a Budget - with Larry Niven and Blair Peterson.

Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine will have a dealers’ table at ConVersion 22.

June 29, 2006 – It seems that the deadline for voting on the 2006 Prix Aurora Awards has been extended to July 3, 2006. It also seems that you can vote online at www.tcon.ca/tt20/index.php?pg=aurora&section=online_voting.

 

May 30, 2006 Vaughan Stanger’s Survival Strategies (that appeared in Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine issue six) has been reprinted in Polish in the June 2006 issue of Nowa Fantastyka.

 

May 29, 2006Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine issues five, six and seven have been nominated for the 2006 Prix Aurora Award - Best Work in English Other. Stephanie Ann Johanson has been nominated for the 2006 Prix Aurora Award - Artistic Achievement. Aurora voting forms can be downloaded from the Prix Aurora Awards website.

 

April 5, 2006 Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine will have a table at the Literary Info-Fair Saturday, May 13, 2006, 11 AM to 3 PM, at the Leonardo Da Vinci Centre, 195 Bay Street (across from the Westside Village) Esquimalt, BC. Admission is $4.00 (children under 12 free).

 

March 9, 2006Aliette de Bodard reviewed issue eight of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine in Tangent short fiction review.

 

March 2, 2006 – Writer John H. Stevens just won a copy of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine for sending in the 2000th submission.

December 19, 2005 – Linda DeMeulemeester’s story The Worry Doctor (printed in issue 2 of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine) is now a podcast and the December’s featured story at http://www.twilighttales.com/podcast/.

 

December 13, 2005 Nina Munteanu’s story Virtually Yours (printed in issue 3 of Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine) has been translated into Hebrew for Bli Panika, an Israeli online magazine.

 

October 6, 2005 - Scott M. Sandridge has reviewed Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine issue #7 in Tangent short fiction review.

 

September 28, 2005 Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine will have a dealer’s table at Vcon 30, October 7-9, 2005. Editor, Karl Johanson, and art director, Stephanie Ann Johanson, will be speaking on several panels during the convention.

June 16, 2005Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine will have a table in the dealer’s room at Westercon 58, held in Calgary, Alberta, July 1-4, 2005. Karl and Stephanie Johanson will be speaking on several panels, and Stephanie will have artwork in the Westercon 58 Art Show.

May 4, 2005 Neo-opsis Science Fiction Magazine has a table at the Literary Info-Fair 2005, Saturday May 14, 2005, at The Fellowship Hall at First Metropolitan United Church, 932 Balmoral Road, Victoria, BC, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Admission is $4.00, children under 12 with adults are free.
