For those budgies hatched in June of
2010, and delivered to Parrot Paradise Bird and Pet Supply store on August 5,
2010.

Here is a photo of the parents of
this clutch of baby budgies. August (the mom) on the right Georgie (the dad) on the left |
On June 14, 2010 August and Georgie’s first chick broke out of its shell. The budgie
eggs are only about ¾” at the widest. |
On June 16, 2010 two chicks are in
the August’s nest. When laying,
a budgie will usually lay only one egg every two days, so the eggs will often
hatch two days apart. In this photo you can see the
difference in the size of the two chicks. |
On June 21, 2010, there are four
chicks in the nest. |
June 25, 2010, there may be five
chicks in this photo. |
June 27, 2010, the chicks are
getting more feathers. |
June 30, 2010, five chicks and more
feathers. |
July 8, 2010, Now their colors are
starting to show, and the oldest, at 24 days old, is starting to look like an

the pale blue and white budgies in her lap. |

youngest budgie from August and Georgie’s clutch. |
July 15, 2010, At 31 days old, here
is a photo of the first baby budgie to fly, from August and Georgie’s nest. |
July 19, 2010, Two of the baby
budgies are now flying, but their parents are still feeding them. |
July 19, 2010, out of the nesting
box, but not sure about flying. |
July 21, 2010, After two days learning
to fly this little budgie tried to land on the top of the glass blender in
the kitchen and fell in. The blender was unplugged, but it took us a while to
find the poor little thing, and it couldn’t get out on its own. This photo is
of the baby budgie after the blender incident, cleaning his/her feathers. |
July 21, 2010, Feathers in place
and ready for another adventure. |
August 5, 2010, August and Georgie’s five chicks, before being taken to Parrot
Paradise Bird and Pet Supply store. If you have purchased one of August’s babies, please look after them well. They are
good little birds. They like fresh green grass seed when it is still on the
end of the grass, as a treat. |
