Budgie Family Album For those hatched in April and May of 2010 – When they were old enough, these young budgies went to the Parrot Paradise Bird and Pet Supply store.

Photo taken April 21, 2010 Budgie eggs from the centre nesting box, Gem is the father of these eggs and Sky is the mother. This is Gem and Sky’s first Clutch. The broken egg was removed from the nest after this photo was taken. The eggs are approximately ¾” (1.9 cm) from end to end.

Photo taken April 21, 2010 These eggs are Lucky and Wally’s 4^th clutch. Lucky and Wally are both blue budgies. Wally was bought from Parrot Paradise May 8^th, 2009. Lucky is the daughter of Balu (a blue budgie) and Hedwig (a mostly white budgie). The eggs are approximately ¾” (1.9 cm) from end to end.

Photo taken April 21, 2010 These are Genie and Hedwig’s eggs, though Genie looks after her chicks alone. Hedwig is Balu’s mate, and Genie is just the mistress. Genie is a mostly green budgie, and this is her 5^th clutch of eggs. The eggs are approximately ¾” (1.9 cm) from end to end.

Photo taken May 3, 2010 While we were fairly sure that Gem was the father of these eggs, we began to wonder if more than just Sky was laying the eggs in this nest. We noticed Buddy and Dayglow entering the nest. Buddy is another blue female, and Dayglow is a mostly yellow female.

Photo taken May 6, 2010 We were beginning to wonder if anymore of Genie’s egg in her 5^th clutch were going to hatch, but in the night a second baby budgie hatched. The size difference of the eight-day old sibling is quite evident in this photo.

Photo taken May 9, 2010 We hadn’t realized that Gem and Sky’s eggs had been hatching. There are five, possibly six, chicks in the nest.
